First Steps - Enrollment Procedure

The EPE program is intermitted and no application for this study is possible anymore. The content of the websites is intended only for current students.


First steps – Enrollment procedure:

All the necessary steps to be followed by new students for enrollment and successful start are listed below. The tutor will assists the new students with this procedure.

Step 1: Accommodation

  • Studentenwerk Accommodation:
    • If you have got an accommodation at Studentenwerk hostel, then go to the studentwerk office and sign the lease agreement.
    • Responsible contact person: Mr. Lowery , Room 131, Stadtmitte Mensa, Studentenwerk Darmstadt, Alexanderstraße 4, Darmstadt.
    • Please bring: Caution deposit € 250, passport and acceptance Letter
    • Outcome: Rental lease agreement
  • Private Accommodation:
    • If you have got a private accommodation, then consult with your landlord and get a lease agreement notice.
    • Outcome: Rental lease agreement

Step 2 : Opening a Bank Account

You need a bank account to do all the further transactions (such as getting health insurance). It is recommended to open the bank account at Deutsche Bank in Darmstadt. The bank is located at Luisenplatz 7, 64289 Darmstadt.

Please bring: Passport ,residential lease agreement and admission letter.

Outcome: Bank account number and other related documents.

Step 3 : Getting health insurance

Recommendation : “Techniker Krankenkasse” health insurance firm


Rheinstraße 95, 64295 Darmstadt

Please bring: ID, Acceptance Letter, Proof of bank account

Outcome: Documents stating that you have taken health insurance.

Step 4: Enrolling at the AAA

Contact persons at the International Office (AAA): Mrs. Tewes, Mrs. Pooya and Mrs. Regula.


Karo 5, TU Darmstadt, Karolinenplatz 5, Darmstadt.

Opening times:

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 bis 12:00 clock

Please bring: Passport, Acceptance Letter, Health Insurance proof, originals of all documents submitted during application.

Outcome: A registration number that you quote while paying the semester fee.

Step 5: Paying semester fees

Address: Sparkasse Bank, Luisenplatz, Darmstadt.

The forms for the deposit are available at AAA.

Please bring: Passport, Semester fee amount (easier if it is in cash), Registration number given in AAA office.

Outcome: A receipt from the bank acknowledging fee payment. Submit this receipt at the AAA. The TUD student ID card can then be taken either directly from AAA or will be sent to your corresponding address by post.

Step 6: Registration at City – Residence proof

Register at the local city registration office. This is very important as it serves as an official residential proof in the city. It has to be done usually within two weeks.

If you stay in Darmstadt, you need to register at:

Grafenstraße 30, 64283 Darmstadt

Opening times:

Mon to Fri from 7:30-12:30 o`clock, Mon additionally from 13:30-16:00 o`clock,Wed additionally from 15:00-18:00 o`clock

Please bring: Passport, admission letter and residential lease agreement.

Outcome: Certificate of proof of residence in the city.

Step 7 : Visa Extension

If you have a visa only for 90 days, then you must extend the visa later.

This can be done at the Immigration Office in the city/town you live.

Please bring: ID card, Lease, Student card, 2 passport photos (35mm x 45mm biometric), Proof of health insurance, Proof of financing

Outcome: Visa extension
